Manatee Lagoon – An FPL Eco-Discovery Center® is dedicated to educating the public about manatees and Lake Worth Lagoon, and inspiring communities to preserve and protect Florida’s environment and wildlife for future generations. On cold winter days, the facility’s observation deck is the ideal spot to view manatee herds basking in the warm-water outflows from Florida Power & Light Company’s adjacent Riviera Beach Next Generation Clean Energy Center. The 16,000-sq.-ft. center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, and is closed on major holidays. It offers two levels of exhibit and event space, an observation deck to observe manatees in the Lagoon, a picnic area, pavilion and gift shop. The center also hosts field trip groups for science programs and offers a variety of family-friendly programming such as waterfront yoga, children’s story time and art classes for kids.
